24th International Classical Dance Contest of Grasse

Eligibility: This contest is open to all dancers from any nationalities, and will take place on 28th- 29th and 30th October 2011. The competitions, publicly accessible will be held at the DE GRASSE (06).

This event takes place as one of the most important classical European competition regarding to its growing reputation, its quality, level of participants and the reputation of members of the international jury.
Around 15 000 € price, this competition brings together young dancers of all nationalities.
24th International Classical Dance Contest of GrasseThe elite of dance meets in Grasse each year for this appointment only opening the season learning and the arts.

The “Jeune Ballet Mediterranean” based in Grasse, the perfume town, south of France, since 1988 is at the service of dance through several educational projects.

Categories:

DEBUTANT (Beginner):
• GIRLS and BOYS who didn’t reach 9 years on the first day of the contest.

PREMIERS PAS (First step):
• GIRLS and BOYS who didn’t reach 11 years on the first day of the contest.

ESPOIR (Hope):
• GIRLS and BOYS who didn’t reach 13 years on the first day of the contest.

ETUDE (Study):
• GIRLS and BOYS who didn’t reach 15 years on the first day of the contest.

SUPERIEUR (Superior):
• GIRLS and BOYS who didn’t reach 17 years on the first day of the contest.

PRE-PROFESSIONNEL (Pre-Professional):
• GIRLS from 15 years
• BOYS from 15 years

PROFESSIONNEL (Professional):
• GIRLS from 19 years
• BOYS from 19 years

PAS DE DEUX (Dance for two):
GIRLS from 15 years
BOYS from 17 years

Rewards:

Best European young dancer: 500€  (Category Professionnel only)
Gold medal: 300€
Silver medal: 220€
Bronze medal: 120€
Jury price: 400€
The amount of the prices reach 15 245€
Grasse city price: 350€
Regional Council price: 300€
General Council price: 150€
Training course, dance goods

* In Case of a tie the prize amount remains unchanged.

Jury:

The jury will be made up of very important persons who have a high experience in classic dance matter (Directors, Ballet masters, Lead Dancers, etc…). All decisions will be taken and they are final.

The organizing committee reserves the right to add within the jury member, for the finals, the professor who did dance courses on stage or at CCD during the contest.

Registration fees:

Registration fees are defined at:
– 49 € for categories Débutant, Premiers Pas and Espoir
– 51 € for categories Etude, Supérieur, Pré-Professionnel, Professionnel.
– 65 € for Pas de Deux
Deadline for registration is on the 15th of October 2011 the postmark as proof . Registration fees are not refund in any case.

No candidate who has not fulfilled the entire fees will take part in the competition.

Pré-Professionnel, Professionnel
Candidates from these categories should be presented from their school, academy or conservatoire. No spontaneous candidature will be accepted.

Professionnel only
Candidates working in a school, academy or conservatoire located in the Baltic States (Estonia, Latvia or Lithuania) or Scandinavian countries (Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Island, Aland, Greenland or Faroe Islands) should go through the contest in Sweden, in order to be selected at Grasse.

• GIRLS: Dress’s lesson required, sleeveless Pastel leotard, pale tights; short skirts and accessories ornaments are forbidden.
• BOYS: Dress’s lesson required, white leotard and grey tights.
• Lesson on stage (subject to the member of candidates)
Espoir :
• GIRLS: Dress’s lesson required, sleeveless Pastel leotard, pale tights; short skirts and accessories ornaments are forbidden.
• BOYS: Dress’s lesson required, white leotard and grey tights.
• Semifinal:
Espoir :
GIRLS and BOYS: Stage costume.
• Final:
Debutant, Premiers Pas, Espoir:
GIRLS and BOYS: Stage costume.

Trial:

Debutant and Premiers Pas:
Qualifying round on the 29/10/2011: Imposed variation with demi-points shoes.
Finale le 30/10/2011 : free variation (out of repertoire) with demi-points shoes (classical base).

Espoir:
Qualifying round on the 29/10/2011 : Lesson on stage and imposed variation with demi-points shoes.
Semifinal on the 29/10/2011 : free variation (out of repertoire) (classical base) points shoes for girls.
Final on the 30/10/2011 : free variation (same as semifinal).

Free variations should not exceed a maximum length of:
1 minute 45 for Debutant and Premiers Pas
2 minutes for Espoir.
