THE STREET PHOTOGRAPHY AWARDS
International 2012

The International Street Photography Award is looking for exceptional, international photographers that display a unique style and depth of work in the genre of street photography. The genre crosses over into portraiture, documentary and art photography, see the 2011 finalists for inspiration and a guide to what defines street photography.

APPLICATION DEADLINE: Thursday 5 January 2012.
First 500 applicants (to sign-up and pay the entry-fee, you can upload images later) go into a special draw, See the Prizes page for details. There are 324 places left in our Early Bird draw.

Categories & prizes:

• Overall winner
• Runner Up
• 10 finalists

The international winner will receive £2,000 cash PLUS a solo exhibition in London PLUS an all-expenses paid trip* to the exhibition launch and awards ceremony in London in June 2012 – total value £10,000. Selected finalists will be exhibited in the same gallery and one image from each entrant will be showcased in a digital display. The first 500 applicants (who sign up and pay the entry-fee) will be automatically entered into a draw to win some fabulous prizes including: a signed print from one of the 2011 exhibitions, an Olympus PEN camera, £100 Blurb voucher, a Crumpler Muffin Top camera bag, photo-books by Magnum and Thames & Hudson.

The international winner receives:

* Solo exhibition in London including: working with a festival curator, gallery hire, printing & framing solution, PR and your own private view. Venue TBC, 2011’s exhibition was alongside Vivian Maier at the German Gymnasium
* £2,000 cash
* All-expenses-paid trip to the exhibition launch in London*
* An Olympus PEN camera
* An Award catalogue is produced including all finalists through Blurb. The winner receives an Awards catalogue and £100 book voucher from Blurb to print their own photo-book.

Second Prize (Runner up):

* £500 cash
* An Awards catalogue is produced including all finalists through Blurb. The second prize winner receives an Awards catalogue and £100 book voucher from Blurb to print their own photo-book.
* Selected images will be exhibited alongside the winner’s solo exhibition.
* A Crumpler Muffin Top camera bag

Ten finalist prizes

In addition to the two winners there will be ten finalists who each receive:

* Selected images will be exhibited alongside the winner’s solo exhibition.
* An Awards catalogue is produced including all finalists through Blurb. Finalists will each receive an Awards catalogue and £100 book voucher from Blurb to print their own photo-book.
* A Crumpler Muffin Top camera bag
* A Thames & Hudson photo-book

All photographers

* ALL PHOTOGRAPHERS who enter will receive a £28.95 voucher to print their own photo-book with Blurb.

The exhibition

* One image from ALL PHOTOGRAPHERS will be displayed digitally during the Awards exhibition and profiled on the LSPF website.
 The festival will host a private view and invite industry guests.

Participants that reside in certain countries receive a 50% discount on the entrance fee.

* You can submit between 5 and 8 images.
* One image from ALL PHOTOGRAPHERS will be displayed on a large screen during the Awards exhibition and profiled (optional) on the LSPF website.
* ALL PHOTOGRAPHERS who enter will receive a £28.95 voucher to print your own book with Blurb, which expires on 31 March 2012.
* FEEDBACK: For an additional £15, LSPF can provide written feedback by an Award judge on your submissions. Choose the “Written Feedback” check box when you submit your images to the Awards.

How to Enter:

1. Submit between five and eight of your best street photography images from anywhere in the world.

The defines Street Photography as:
“candid, photography which captures, explores or questions contemporary society and the relationships between individuals and their surroundings.”
Street photography is perhaps more easily defined as a method than a genre. The results can fit into documentary, portraiture and other genres, but the key elements of spontaneity, careful observation and an open mind ready to capture whatever appears in the viewfinder are essential.

2. You will be asked to include:

* a brief biography of yourself (max 100 words) and a description (max 300 words) outlining the process and background of your photographic work
* a title (optional) for your work and caption for each photo
* the location that each photo was taken (optional)
* Entrants can be living anywhere in the world. The photographs must be taken within the last 10 years and may be taken anywhere in the world.
